Students wearing rainbow clothing and inflatable costumes lift a Stevenson banner. Student Council, Sexuality and Gender Alliance (SAGA), Freshman Class Board and the Athletic Department organized Stevenson’s role in the parade.
Students not marching in the parade cheer in support of the marchers. This year marks the return of a larger number of attendees, as the pandemic prevented crowds from gathering along the parade route for the past two years.
Members of Face Paint with a Twist put the finishing touches on their balloon gowns. They handed out bracelets to match different pride flags as well as balloon art to parade goers.
The School of Rock House Band, composed of students from the Lake County area, performed live music during the parade. They played a number of blues and rock songs.
Nathaniel Ramirez ’23 gives candy to Buffalo Grove residents. Students prepared pride flags and buckets of Tootsie Rolls to hand out to supporters who cheered on the parade.
Anika is a senior at Stevenson and is one of the Managing Editors of Magazine for Statesman this year! She is excited for her third year on staff. Outside of Statesman she enjoys reading and playing music.
Vivian is a senior and third-year staffer. She’s excited to write about diverse perspectives in the Stevenson community. Chances are, she’s currently procrastinating on problem sets by watching an unhealthy amount of spoken word.
